Background

Grant’s Lounge first opened its doors on February 16, 1971, and quickly became a launching pad for some of the biggest names in music, hosting acts such as the Allman Brothers Band, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, The Marshall Tucker Band, and many others on their way up. Its existence helped shape what the world now knows as Southern rock and made a lasting statement by breaking down barriers in its early years. A mural above the stage bearing the words “Grant’s belongs to the people” reflects the spirit that has kept this funky, beloved spot a staple of the Macon music scene for over fifty years.
