Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is a sports museum in downtown Macon, Georgia, and the largest state sports museum in the United States. Spanning 43,000 square feet, the museum celebrates the achievements and legacies of Georgia’s athletes, teams, and coaches.

The Museum Experience

The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame offers exhibits and activities for visitors of all ages, including:

  • More than 14,000 square feet of exhibit space and over 3,000 artifacts
  • A Hall of Fame corridor honoring more than 400 inductees
  • An interactive area where visitors can shoot hoops, kick field goals, and test their skills
  • A broadcaster booth, sports trivia, and a full theater
  • Event and party rental space within the museum

The building itself resembles a turn-of-the-century ballpark, with a red-brick exterior, green roof, old-style ticket booths, and a columned rotunda.

Background

Created in 1956 as the Georgia Prep Sports Hall of Fame and expanded in 1963 to include college, amateur, and professional sports, the Hall moved into its permanent Macon home in 1999. It honors athletes across baseball, basketball, football, golf, Olympic sports, and more, adding new inductees each year. The museum is a popular family destination and a venue for meetings, celebrations, and special events.
